Norwegian citizens can still apply for U.S. visas through the Consular Processing Center in Seattle or the nearest Canadian visa office. The Nexus Program was created to improve processing times for both countries’ citizens applying for visas at U.S. consulates in Japan and Norway.
The Nexus Program allowed applicants to submit their applications through a single online portal instead of visiting multiple U.S. consulates in Japan and Norway separately. This saved time and money for both applicants and consular officials working within the program.
Unfortunately, with the discontinuation of the Nexus Program, this online portal will also be discontinued on September 1st, 2011[1]. The Global Entry Program for Canadian Citizens
The Global Entry Program for Canadian Citizens is a program that allows citizens of countries who are participating in the program to enter the United States without having to go through an immigration checkpoint. The program was established in 2010 and is administered by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP).
To be eligible for the Global Entry Program, you must meet certain requirements. These requirements include being a citizen of one of the following countries: Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Croatia, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Ireland, Mexico, New Zealand, Nicaragua, Panama*, Peru*, Philippines*, South Korea*, Uruguay* or Venezuela*. You also must have a valid passport and be in good physical health.
Once you have met these requirements, you can apply online for the Global Entry Program. After your application is processed and you receive an invitation to complete a background check online, you will need to provide proof of your citizenship and residency from your country of origin. You will also need to provide documentation that shows you are in good physical health and have no criminal history.
If you are approved for the Global Entry Program, it will allow you to enter the United States without going through an immigration checkpoint. This means that you will not need to show your passport when entering the United States. Instead, you will need to show your invitation letter from CBP and proof of your citizenship and residency from your country of origin.
How to Apply for an American Visa
