What is Citizenship?

Citizenship in Canada is based on both your place of birth and your residence at the time of applying for citizenship.

To be eligible for Canadian citizenship, you must meet one of the following requirements:

-You were born in Canada or have a parent who was born in Canada

-You have been permanently resident in Canada since before January 1, 1957

-You are a naturalized Canadian citizen

Visas for Dutch and Portuguese Citizens

If you are a Dutch citizen, or if you have a valid travel document from the Netherlands with a validity of at least six months, you can visit Canada without a visa. Similarly, if you are a Portuguese citizen and have a valid travel document issued by Portugal with at least six months validity, you can visit Canada without a visa.

If your passport does not have a Visa-On-Arrival (VOA) stamp in it, or if it has been canceled, expired, or is not valid for more than 6 months from the date of your proposed entry into Canada, then you will need to obtain an electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) before travelling to Canada. Canada Visa for Dutch Citizens

Canada is a great place to live, work and visit. The country has a rich culture and history, as well as an abundance of natural resources. Canada also offers excellent opportunities for education and professional development.

If you are a Dutch citizen, you may be eligible for a Canadian visa. To qualify, you must meet the following requirements:

You must have a valid passport from your home country.

You must be in good health and have no serious health conditions that would make it difficult for you to travel or stay in Canada.

You must not be prevented by law from entering or remaining in Canada.

If you are visiting family or friends in Canada, you do not need a visa unless your stay will exceed six months. If your stay will exceed six months, you will need to apply for a visitor visa at the Canadian embassy or consulate in your home country.

Canada Visa for Portuguese Citizens

If you are a Portuguese citizen, you can apply for a visa to visit Canada. In order to qualify for a visa, you must meet the following requirements: You must have a valid passport.

You must be able to support yourself financially while in Canada.
