There are several types of visas available for foreigners travelling to India, including tourist visas, business visas, student visas, work visas, medical visas, and more. The most common type of visa issued to travellers is the tourist visa, which allows for stays of up to six months in India. For stays longer than six months, a business visa or student visa may be required.

How Much Does an Indian Visa Cost?

Indian visas can be obtained either through the Indian embassy or consulate in your home country, or by applying online. The cost of an Indian visa depends on the type of visa required, as well as the duration of stay. Indian Visa Information

A single-entry tourist visa to India costs $60 USD, and is valid for up to 6 months. A multiple-entry tourist visa to India costs $100 USD, and is valid for up to 1 year. For business visas, the cost is $250 USD for a single-entry visa, valid for up to 1 year, or $500 USD for a multiple-entry visa, valid for up to 5 years. Lastly, student visas cost $75 USD for a single-entry visa valid for up to 1 year of study.

What Documents do I Need to Apply for an Indian Visa?

To apply for an Indian Visa, you will need to submit the following documents:

  1. A completed visa application form. You can download the form here.
  2. A passport-sized photo.
  3. Your passport. Make sure that your passport is valid for at least six months from the date of your planned arrival in India.
  4. The appropriate visa fee. Fees can be paid in cash, by credit card, or by bank draft or money order made payable to the “Embassy of India”.
  5. If you are applying for a business visa, you must also submit a letter from your employer detailing your purpose of travel to India.
  6. If you are applying for a student visa, you must also submit a letter of admission from an educational institution in India.

How Long does it take to Process my Indian Visa?

Assuming you already have a passport, it will take about 3-4 weeks to get your Indian visa. The process is as follows:

1) Submit your visa application online through the official Indian visa website. You will need to upload a photo and supporting documents.

2) Pay the visa fee online. You will need to print out the receipt and submit it with your application.

3) Schedule an appointment at your nearest Indian consulate or embassy. You will need to bring your passport, application, and supporting documents to the appointment.

4) After your application is processed, you will receive your visa in the mail.

How Long will my Indian visa be Valid for?
